Hi! My name is Samantha, or Sami for short. I'm a New York–based business and data journalist interested in covering companies, markets, and how corporate decision-making impacts consumers. I strive to tell the human stories within the data. I've worked at international, B2B, and local newsrooms and am skilled at boiling complex ideas down for various audiences.
At Reuters, I reported on the consumer goods and retail team, covering how major brands are trying to win over Gen Z, the business of New York Fashion Week, and riskier advertising in an era of DEI rollbacks.
Previously, I was a data analytics editor at a B2B trade publication covering the promotional products industry, where I reported on why consumers tighten their pursestrings even when economic signs are relatively positive, and how much money presidential candidates spend on promo.
After coming back from a three-month cross-border journalism exchange program in Oslo, Norway, I'm searching for new opportunities. I recently graduated from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, where I received my masters in business reporting and data journalism. I was also named as the "Reuters Scholar" of the program. My capstone investigation, published by the Investigative Journalism Bureau, examined breeders supplying dogs to research labs in Canada.
I’m currently freelancing for The Jersey Bee by reporting explanatory stories on tenant rights in New Jersey, and am a Karsh Journalism Fellow covering the Jewish community in Norway.
Thanks for reading- I'm excited to share my work with you.
